LIKE THE DAYS OF NOAH WERE SO SHALL THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN BE
But
as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son
of man be. For
as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking,
marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all
away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matt 24:37-39
A TEXT ANALYSIS OF THE DAYS OF NOAH
Genesis 5- 8 (KJV
quoted unless otherwise stated)
ABOUT ADAM
1.
He saw the coming and times of the fallen angels
(who came during the time/generation of Jared- ref: Book Of Enoch). It can be
inferred that the fallen angels came sometime after 460 years since creation of
man ( the age of Adam when Jared was born).
2.
Enoch was bormn when Adam was 622 years old (308
years before Adam died)
3.
Adam saw at least 8 generations (Seth, Enosh,
Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah and Lamech generations)
4.
He was alive when Enoch was walking with God.
Adam was 687 years old when Enoch aged 65 began to walk with God.
5.
Of the 300 years Enoch walked with God, Adam
witnessed 243 of those years then died aged 930 years.
6.
57 years After Adam’s death Enoch is raptured
(aged 365).
7.
Adam did not live to see Noah, the tenth from
Adam
8.
Enoch’s generation was the last in the 1st
week of generations. The flood (first end for man) occurred in the second week.
CHARACTERISTICS THAT MARKED THE DAYS OF
NOAH
1.
Man’s life was laborious and painful toil (due to the curse of God on the ground)
–GEN 5:29
2.
High population.
Man (male and female) had increased on earth in number – GEN 6:1
3.
Daughters of men were beautiful (to the sons of
God or Angels). GEN 6:2
4.
The (fallen) Angels married the daughters of men
as the chose. GEN 6:2
5.
God declared that His Spirit will not contend
with man forever GEN 6:3
6.
God slashes life expectancy to 120 years. GEN
6:3. The first 9 generations had lived an average of 900 years each and Noah
was already doing 600 years by the time he went inside the ark.
Nephilims
(giants born to the Angels by their human wives) walked the earth. GEN 6:4
[Dan 2:43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with
miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall
not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.]
7.
Nephilims were heros and men of renown. Gen 6:4
8.
Wickedness was great and men’s thoughts were
towards evil all the time. Gen 6:5
9.
(seeing the evil that man was working) God
regretted having created man and it pained His Heart. Gen6:6
10.
God resolved to wipe out of the face of the
earth :
a.
Man
b.
Animals
c.
Creatures that move along the ground
d.
Birds of the air .Gen 6:7
e.
All life under heaven Gen 6:17

[See also: Hos 4:3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every
one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and
with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. Zeph
1:3 I
will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the
fishes of the sea, and the stumbling
blocks
with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.]
11. Noah
was found righteous on earth Gen 6:9. (walked
blameless before God: Gen 17:5)
12.
The earth in God’s Sight (not mans’ sight) was:
i.
Corrupt
ii. Full
of violence
iii.
People had corrupted their ways (norms, culture, way of life, relations,
rules of living, values, etc)
13.
An escape plan (the ark) was given by God
to the righteous (‘my people’) on how to escape God’s wrath that was about to pour out on the
earth and its inhabitants. The details of the escape plan as given by God were very thorough. Gen 6: 14-21
14.
The righteous who escaped the wrath of God had obeyed every instruction that God had
given them with regard to the escape/salvation plan. Gen 6:22
15.
God commanded that food (that is to be eaten) be stored be stored away in the ark “for you
and for them” Gen 6:21b NIV
16.
God waited
patiently as the ark was being built i.e.
God patiently waited as the righteous implement His instructions about the
escape plan and as they prepared to be ready to escape the coming wrath of God
as per His instructions.
[1Pet 3:20 ………., when once the
longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing,
wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.]
17.
Animals were saved male and female (in twos) to preserve the species. Gen 7:1-4; 6:19-20. A remnant of all created animal life, men and women on earth. Even now
there is (or there will be) a remnant that will come out of the great
tribulation and continue the species. A remnant of a remnant.
[Rom
9:27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the
number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be
saved: (Isaiah 10:22). Rom 11:5 Even so then at
this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.]
18.
When it was time for the wrath of God to pour out,
God issued the escape command.
Gen:7:1
19.
Since the creation of Adam it was 1656 years 2 months and 17 days when
the destruction by water begun. Gen 5, Gen 7:11
20.
Destruction by water that God brought on the
earth came from:
a. The great deep
b. The Heavens
Gen 7:11.
[Gen 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in
the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters
which [were] under the firmament from the waters
which [were] above the firmament: and it was so.8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening
and the morning were the second day.
Ps
148:4 Praise
him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that [be] above the heavens. Ps
33:7 He
gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in
storehouses.
Ps 136:6 To
him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.]
21.
The period the destroyer poured out destruction
was 40 days and 40 nights.
Gen:7:4,12. Destruction however lasted a total of 150 days (5 months) Gen
7:24.
22.
Those who were saved from destruction are those
who had obeyed GOD and did
everything He had commanded. Gen6:22, 7:5, 7:9b, 7:16b.
23. God Himself shut the door to the escape area/safe house (the ark). Gen
7:16b. After that no one else could
enter/could now escape the destruction except those inside the plan already as
at the time God blew the final whistle.
24.
Those who were saved were saved by being raised above while the destroyer destroyed
beneath them. Gen 7:17-20.
25.
Every life outside
the safe house (ark)/God’s plan/will was destroyed, man and beast alike.
26.
When destruction begun, nothing was out of reach of God’s wrath and the destroying deluge.
The floods covered everything, rising 7 meters above the peak of the tallest
mountain. Gen 7:20
27.
It was God’s
remembrance of the righteous/ ‘my people’ who had escaped which caused Him to stop the destruction of the earth
and restore it. Gen 8:11
[Dan 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up,
the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall
be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy
people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.]
28.
Destroyer (the deluge) destroyed for 40 days and
40 nights. Total flooding lasted 150 days. Ark landed on a mountain 150 days
after the destroyer begun to destroy. Seven months and 14 days after the destroyer
started to destroy mountain tops were now visible. Ten months and 14 days after
the rains started the water had dried up from the earth. It was 12 months 10
days before the earth was completely dry again. Gen 8:1-14.
29.
At the end of the destruction of life on earth,
God issued the command to the righteous who were rescued to come back to the earth’s
surface to restore life on earth. Gen
8:15-16
30.
The righteous that were saved offered sacrifices to God and He lifted the
curse on the ground due to the sin at the garden and relented destroying entire
life again from the face of the earth. God
blessed them. Gen 8:20, 9:11. He relented destroying life (man and animal) by
water again.
Gen 8:21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and
the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for
man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart [is] evil from his youth; neither will I
again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
Gen 9:1 And God blessed
Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish
the earth.
Gen 9:11 And I will establish my covenant with
you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood;
neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.12 And God said, This [is] the token of the covenant which I make
between me and you and every living creature that [is] with you, for perpetual generations:13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a
token of a covenant between me and the earth.
31.
God pronounced laws for the new dispensation and
made a covenant with Noah. Gen 8:22, Gen 9:1-14.
To me the points above sound like the days and times
that am living in. What about you?
DAYS OF LOT
Later on God destroyed life in Sodom and Gomorrah by
fire. The promise made to Noah and all living creatures by covenant is
therefore not that life shall never be destroyed again but that it shall never be
destroyed entirely and future destructions shall not be by water. He
destroyed Sodom and Gommorrah with eternal fire (fire from hell - Jude 1:7).
Gen 13:13 But the men of Sodom [were] wicked and sinners before the LORD
exceedingly.
Ezek 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy
sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and
in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
Gen 18:20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of
Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
Gen 19:24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon
Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities
about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going
after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of
eternal fire.
Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so
shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.27 They did eat, they drank, they married
wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the
ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.28 Likewise also as it was in the days of
Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they
builded;29 But the same day that Lot went out of
Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed [them] all.
